Can Nurse Practitioners open their own practice in the state of Florida?
Q. Is there a website where I can find out which states allow Nurse Practitioners to open their own practices and if there are any special requirements to do so?

How are males studying to become Nurse Practitioners treated/viewed in college?
Q. I'm considering becoming a NP. Im a male however, and am afraid about the image that may project about myself. I know I may seem a little silly, but I really need to know if male NP are looked down upon or made fun of my other female NP's. Such as in college. Do doctors look down upon you? This question has heavy stereotyping and I would like to give others the benefit of the doubt, but that's why I'm asking.

A. I don't think there is anything wrong with being a male NP. I myself am trying to become a nurse and I wouldn't look down on you if you were in my class. As far as the doctors looking down on you there are doctors who would but most of those who do look down at female nurses too. But don't worry this is more of a personality thing that you will find in some one no matter what career field you go into.

What do you think of the health care provided by nurse practitioners?
Q. I love my NP. She spends way more time with me than my doctor. The thing is she says many doctors are against NP's and are trying to start legislation that really restricts their practice. I don't think NP's are a replacement for physicians, but they certainly seem to be well equipped to handle minor illnesses and other not so minor problems. They cost a lot less than a physician which is great for those without health insurance (about 40% of US). What are your thoughts on this?

A. Dear Mispris... I agree 100% with you. As a cancer survivor, I see a nurse practioner every month. He suggests, the doctors signs and indeed seems to give me more care than the doctor himself. Speaking of 40% without insurance, insurance as we knew it, is becoming extinct for our health. Consumer Driven Health Care that includes on-going conditions at 1980 rates without limits and restrictions, is the answer 28 million are enjoying right now.
