A. I had to do a little research first to understand your question. Spinal caries is an old fashioned term for the destruction that can be caused to the vertebrae from infection with tuberculosis. It was common in the pre-antibiotic era, and most of the references to spinal caries I found were actually from the 19th and early 20th century. TB is still common in many 3rd world countries, and is making a comeback in some urban areas in the AIDS era. TB is caused by a spirochete (a type of bacteria) that is particularly tough to kill. Medical treatment of TB is long term treatment with antibiotics specific for the organism until it is completely eradicated. The main concern is preventing it from spreading to other people. A. IF you consult a good Ayurveda expert, I think it will be really beneficial for you. Ayurvedic Panchakarma procedure called as Vamana and some excellent Ayurvedic drugs like Haridra Khanda will be of much help to you. Try contacting any one of the doctors in the list given in the link, according to your convenience.

What is best for acne, Homeopathy or Medicines?
Q. Obviously there is no cure for clearer skin, but what is most effective out of Medicines (creams, pills etc..) or Homeopathy? It seems that natural medicines might work better, but do stubborn spots need stronger chemicals from man-made medicines?
Asked by Florence - Thu Apr 23 18:50:32 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It depends. If you want something that is healthier for your body, use a homeopathy remedy. However, with a homeopathic remedy, the dosage is higher. For example, one remedy which comes in a bottle from A Vitamin Shoppe requires 4 doses a day. A medicine such as Differin only requires one or maybe 2 doses a day but you should use with an oil free moisturizing lotion.

Homeopathy or Chinese Medicine for cold extremities and late/scanty periods?
Q. Hi, I am looking for a homeopathy and/or chinese medicine remedy for the following symptoms: 1. Late/scanty periods 2. Cold hands/feet Can someone recommend remedies for this? Will I need two separate medicines or is there one medicine to help both? Thanks!
Asked by ThePostLady - Fri Oct 24 10:46:05 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well, the most popular natural products for hormone support (including regulating a period) would be Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Vitex (also called Chasteberry), Wild Yam, Damiana Leaf, Motherwort, GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid, commonly in Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil), and some Soy germ products. As far as circulation to the extremities, there are a few options that might help. The most popular ones are L-Arginine, L-Citruline, Cayenne Pepper, Ginkgo Biloba, and Hawthorn. You can try any of those combinations, but I would only add one of the circulation products at a time (having a couple weeks between adding each one)... having your circulation increased too much can be worse than having it not good enough. Good luck!

What's the worst thing homeopathy could do to you?
Q. Hi. I must begin homeopathy treatment but I'm scared to begin it. What's the worst thing that could happen to me? I am not physically ill (but sort of mentally). So I am NOT on a medical prescription. I am only on a homeopathic prescription.

A. That's the great thing about Homeopathy... it helps your body heal itself so there are basically no side effects. If you take something that you aren't prescribed for or that you don't need, your body's immune system will still get the benefits, but there would be no ill effects. Simply put, it gives a very, very small dose of an irritant. That small amount stimulates your immune system to attack it, but with the small amount, your immune system completely overwhelms that little bit and all the extra impact from it goes to help the rest of your body. In that aspect, they work similar to the idea of vaccinations (but MUCH safer because there's less irritant and no harsh preservatives), so even if you take the "wrong ingredient", you'll get… [cont.]

Which statements about homeopathy is true?
Q. 1. High doses of drugs are routinely used in homeopathy. 2. Homeopathic claims that the more dilute the remedy, the more potent it is in treating a health condition. 3. Homeopathic claims are supported by many well-designed clinical studies. 4. Most homeopathic remedies are legal.

A. Well, #4 is true in the U.S., but some countries have banned homeopathic remedies. #2 is an broad overgeneralisation. It was explained to me that they stimulate the body's immune system to respond to that the less potency you use, the more of your immune system's response there is to help the body. So #2 and 4 are both partially true depending on how you're asking, but both overgeneralised. With #3, all fo the clinical studies that have been done were set up by big-pharma, so they were set up to fail... much like the link that the other lady pointed out, studies that were designed to fail to make herbs look bad. #1 is just flat out false (which is another reason you don't need a prescription for them). A. Homeopathy is a specific branch of natural medicine. Some people mistakingly refer to it in a manner that takes in herbalism, naturopathy, and other non-invasive supplement based traditional health care methods. The best I can do is send you to a great description online. Dr. Cindee says what it is much better than I ever could.

Q. I am having my second home birth and am thinking of using a homeopathy kit for labour and afterwards. What have your experiences been when using these? The kit contains everything they say that is needed for labour, birth and healing but having never had experience of this before would value some advice / stories.

A. I had both my children in Germany where they are very open minded about different treatments. I had homoeopathy to relax me and it really seemed to help. I would definitely recommend it, plus you have the added bonus that it won't have any adverse affect on the baby. As for afterwards, arnica is fantastic for bruising and helps speed up the healing process. I tore very badly with my first and took arnica, I was comfortable enough to drive within 48 hours. Quite a few of my friends have used the kits you can buy, Helios and Ainsworths both do a kit for childbirth - might work out cheaper to buy the kit from them. Best of luck!

Q. I am having my second home birth and am thinking of using a homeopathy kit for labour and afterwards. What have your experiences been when using these? I have been to a certified homeopathy person (!) and will be getting comprehensive instructions and doseage. The kit contains everything they say that is needed for labour, birth and healing but having never had experience of this before would value some advice / stories.

A. well this is very tricky question, what i can say is all three systems of treatments has its own place and depending on the seriousness of the condition this has to be decided, for example, in a acute kidney condition, which can risk the life of the patient, alopathic treatment is the first to think of, but if the condition is not a life threatning case, yes then i sugest Homoeopathy, to be thought of first, coz taking ayurvedic medicines though could do some good, the fact is ayurveda too uses crude medicines, which can create problems to the already diordered kidney, while homoeopathy does not use physiological doses but only in dynamic doses, it will be the best treatment
