Is it true that hypnotherapy is only effective if used by a psychiatrist?
Q. I've heard from an unreliable source that can only psychiatrists are good at hypnotherapy. That psychologists aren't? Is that true. Also can hypnotherapy can help to cope with a bad memory? My goal is NOT to erase the bad memory itself. Instead, my goal is to deal with it and eliminate all emotions attached to it. In my case, it would be a case of post traumatic stress disorder due to sexual harassment.

A. hypnotherapy isnt related to any job besides the person executing it. If your family learn it properly, even they can apply it. If i get this right and you are also talking about hypnosis, then let me say the following: hypnosis only effects if you are open to it. if you are scared for it, you are not vurnable for it. You must feel comfortable when its being applied to you. You NEVER do something you normally wouldnt either when being in hypnotic state. Anyways, your source was unreliable indeed.
